NEW YORK -- November 1, 2012 -- In response to the widespread
devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, the networks of NBCUniversal --
including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and USA – will
join forces to air a one-hour live benefit telethon, “Hurricane Sandy:
Coming Together,” on Friday, November 2 (8-9 pm ET).
Hosted
by NBC “Today” anchor Matt Lauer, the telethon will be broadcast from
the New York studios of NBC at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. It will air live
across the East Coast and tape-delayed on the West. Additional networks
could join the broadcast of the telethon prior to airtime.
Money collected will be donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy.
The telethon also will be live-streamed on NBC.com.
This is the fourth program scheduled for this hour in the last 3 weeks,
including this announcement just 36 hours ago, but the first one without any commercial (read
political) spots inside. With so little time left before election day, few local stations want to actually REFUND money for pre-paid political ads, so traffic departments have got to be insane right now.
This preempts an encore of Revolution. Now that the sci-fi hit has been given a four month hiatus from December through March, keeping momentum up seems to be less of an issue for 30 Rock.
NBC hasn't stopped jumbling things...

(Interesting comments by users at the Zap2It site linked above.)
This afternoon, NBC notified stations of a revised political spot schedule through Election Day. I'm sure traffic departments and sales management are more than ready for the Polls to open.. and close.
And then,
this happened.
But just three days later, all of the above posts vanished from the What's New log @ NBC. Sigh.
