Network with most affiliates doing local news is NBC.. 

Among the stations producing news, NBC led the way for affiliates with 181 stations, ahead of the 173 aligned with ABC and CBS.

My lifelong dedication to local broadcast news leads me to assist stations with non-shared news departments.  These stations were threatened by Nielsen's attempt at "Ratings Stabilization" but it appears diaries will live beyond 2015. 

WRCB Already Has May15 PAV-based Estimates

Yes, for something as important as the May book, I work weekends.  So when Nielsen data arrived on client WRCB's WideOrbit server twelve hours ago, it meant an opportunity to give my clients the same kind of effort they put into selling advertising in Chattanooga.

Right now, WRCB sales management has a Master Planner for every inventory item available in 2015, with many new audience estimates based on the new May 2015 book.  

Even better, they also have estimates for five other broadcast stations in their market in the same detail!

Diaries Get Reprieve; Nielsen Defers to Clients

“It’s become clear based on your input, that the model does not align with how many of you sell your ad inventory, nor sufficiently take into account the week-to-week variability in programming lineups,” Nielsen said in a letter to clients.

Hate to say I told you so, but Nielsen has a decade-long history of making big plans and announcements and then never actually rolling out the service.  Remember mailable meters?

So, for another year at least, local Nielsen clients can be assured their local programs will have demographics based on their own station's audience.   Was that so hard, Nielsen?
