On-Site Meetings with WRCB

About a month ago, I was able to drive east to visit my most senior clients at WRCB-TV.

The above is what I looked like after driving 2000 miles in three days, just before my meetings began with the entire sales department.  After working with them remotely for more than six years, it was the first time we all met face to face.

What I heard was more than encouraging.  You'll be seeing more here as a result.

270 Minutes of British Soccer on Boxing Day

Now that NBC has removed boxing from Boxing Day, they've replaced it with more BPL soccer.

So, from going to combat sports on the day after Christmas to 4.5 hours of hipster soccer.  Not exactly the most friendly to rural female demos on a huge shopping weekend, but I'm sure NBC got paid nicely for this.

Miss Universe Moves To Fox

 From none other than Robin Leach,

After a three-year absence, the Miss Universe Pageant is returning to the Las Vegas Strip — but without its most-recognized former owner, real-estate tycoon and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Fox made it official today that the pageant with more than 80 contestants from around the world will be televised live Sunday, Dec. 20.

And I can confirm that Miss Universe will be broadcast from Planet Hollywood, where the last Las Vegas-hosted Miss Universe took place in 2012 and was won by Miss USA Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island, who most recently dated singer-songwriter and Las Vegas regular Nick Jonas.

At this moment, there is no word as to whether the other component of The Donald’s one-time beauty pageant empire, the Miss USA Pageant, will return to Las Vegas and air on Fox.

Holiday Specials Booked & Published

NBC has announced several of their usual holiday specials for November and December.

NBC is making the day after Thanksgiving and New Year's Day games a ritual.  LPM markets up north probably have great numbers to show for these games. Of course, neither are in sweeps in diary markets, so a lot of spots in smaller markets are sold on faith in the estimates.

RatingBook.com clients have more than 320 individual lines of NBC Sports inventory, each with a customized PAV-based audience estimate with unique rationale text that goes way beyond "auto-rationale."   And now they include all of the above games.

Our clients know if a future NBC program in their inventory is truly scheduled by NBC, because there's a date in the actual title.  After watching NBC schedule sports for nearly two decades,  we have a pretty good idea what to expect in future months and years. 

With 2016 turning into the Gold Rush of issue advertising, local stations need to glean every available spot they have to sell, and to get the most money they can for it.  We're here to help.
