Dear 30 Rock,

Since you like to leave little gifts in our In-Boxes just before you leave for the weekend, may we have the audacity to put in a request?

It would be nice to know the full schedule for June.  Right now, about 20% of June primetime is still TBA.  It's easier to sell a program than it is a time period.  Maybe not for NBC, but for local stations.

No Fireworks on 4th, Says NBC's APT.

Regular readers of this blog will note a theme of astonishment when it comes to NBC announcing annual events.  After nearly 20 years of following NBC on a daily basis, I have my reasons.  Here's an example:

Has Macy's cancelled their sponsorship of NYC fireworks on the Fourth of July?

And then there is this paragraph:

But as I examine the password protected full schedule site of APT,  on the Fourth of July, there are other programs listed.  I never reveal what's on THAT site..  comments made here are based as if all I had access to was the APT2GO website that has always been open to the public.

Gee Whiz...  an email sent at 10:29pm EDT from WO's automailer.  I wonder what's just arrived.

Monday Update...  it arrived late last night, and I updated client inventories and estimates impacted by Feb17 PAV information.

Clients also have had their competitive estimates updated.  However, the most recent sample is full of seemingly unexplainable demographic shares which suggests a weighting or sample issue has been magnified, frequently throughout the book.

What that means to advertisers is that stations, knowingly or not, can use a misleading "audience projection" of a Feb17 share to a May16 or July 16 or Nov16 viewing level and officially project future ratings delivery.  Sales people love high numbers, which deliver low CPP.

Sadly, promises built on shaky data seldom deliver, and when the post-delivery analysis happens, bad things follow. That's where Selling Book Estimates help everyone.

It shows a repeat of Powerless with an original air date of 3/16 is scheduled for tonight at 8:30pm.

With less than 7 hours before air time, how many other Channel Guides are showing the wrong program?

Don't blame your cable company for this; it takes a while for last minute changes to propagate to the downloaded Channel Guide your DVR uses.  Instead, realize that NBC has chosen move the deck chairs at the last minute and annoy the traditional viewing audience they still have.

But NBC is busy elsewhere.   Clearly, the people in charge of releasing future programming to stations are not financially motivated to provide information quickly.  But I'll bet some still have Black Belts!
