"Take for example "Timeless," which is averaging an underwhelming 1.4 live-same-day rating in NBC's plum Monday 10 p.m. slot. That's not meeting NBC's early expectations, but the lift "Timeless" gets in C7 puts its season average among adults 18 to 49 north of the 2.0 mark, and well out of harm's way.

Indeed, with three weeks of currency data in hand, NBC on Nov. 1 gave "Timeless" a vote of confidence, ordering an additional three episodes. The TV adaptation of the Liam Neeson film series "Taken" is scheduled to move into the slot on Feb. 27."

Holiday Specials for 2016: NBC Schedule Helps Local Stations Sell

NBC's announcement of all (minus an expected re-run of Dolly's second Christmas special) holiday programming has allowed local stations to sell spots in programming that, hopefully, has avoided the repugnant election effect. 

Last week, ABC did the same, giving local stations a chance to sell spots in the broadcast premiere of "Frozen" several weeks in advance.  CW released their own classics in mid-October.

Fox throws a great New Years Eve special, but in general, they're light on Christmas.

Reps for CBS stations typically are told the first week of November the schedule for their holiday specials, but as yet there is no announcement of programs, dates or times.
